We ran an outdoor cinema event at a Kalamunda Hills property. The setup area included an old timber deck. The deck surface was too uneven for standard cable ramps, so we needed another way to run power cables safely across it. We asked the client if we could use gaffer tape to secure the cables. The client said yes.
The event ran well. Pack-down was fine. When we pulled the gaffer tape off the old deck, it took most of the remaining varnish with it.
The client was completely unbothered. The deck was already scheduled for replacement that month and they had given up on the varnish some years earlier. We still ask about decking surfaces before every Hills booking. The lesson costs nothing to apply.
